Sometimes the simple act of moving your belongings from one state to another, may turn out to be more confusing and difficult than you could even imagine? Submitting information online, people are sometimes bombarded with dozens of estimates with confusing terms and receive price ranges that are different hundreds of dollars from one another.

Hercules Moving Systems recommends that you fully iunderstand how the long distance moving process works and what will be the payment terms, before you schedule a long distance move with any moving service.

Sometimes, customers may think that they understand all the terms and conditions of the move, but in actuality, they miss much of the fine print and may incur extra charges totalling hundreds of dollars on the pick update.

So how does it all work? Most reputable moving services, Hercules Moving Systems included, work with two basic charge units for long distance moving: weight and space. In both cases, the movers need to give you a basic charge unit with which the actual charges will be calculated. This means that a rate per cube or a rate per pound will be given to you. With moves based on volume, you will pay for the space your shipment will take on a trailer, based on the rate per cubic foot you were provided with. With moves based on weight, the same will be done and the truck will be weiged before and after it is loaded to determine the shipment’s actual weight. Packing services, such as packing boxes and glass items, will be charged separately, unless they were calculated and included in advance. It is very important that you make sure you understand exactly how the moving company is calulating the cost. If complex formulas which you do not understand are appied, this basically means that you will have no way to check how the final price was calculated.
